Public Safety Firefighter (On-Call)
Job Description:
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Director, Deputy Director or designated
fire scene supervisor, the primary function of a Plainwell Firefighter is to protect the
community from disaster situations, including house and building fires, and promote an
environment of public safety within the City of Plainwell Fire Department’s response area.
This position also participates in fire prevention and inspection activities, and training
dealing with all phases of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, rescue and emergency
operation. An employee in this classification also responds to emergency medical calls and
participates in the maintenance of fire equipment, apparatus and facilities.

How To Apply
Must be 18 yrs. or older, valid Michigan Driver’s license, High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Living within City limits preferred, 5 mile radius accepted. Prior experience welcomed but not mandatory. Uncertified must attend next available fire academy. Details will be provided.
