The mill ceased operation in November 2000 and was acquired by the City of Plainwell in August 2006 with a vision to redevelop it as a multi-use facility.

The City of Plainwell during the fall of 2008 has installed natural gas line to the mill and has repaired storm damage to the roof of Building One (see Site Plan).
