Winter 2017 Property Tax Bills

Winter 2017 property tax statements in the City of Plainwell have been mailed to property owners and escrow agents.  Property owners with an escrow agent are receiving an “information only” copy by mail.  Winter tax payments are due by 5:00pm on Wednesday February 14, 2018.  Payments received after 5:00pm on February 14, 2018, will be charged a 3% penalty.  All unpaid real estate taxes as of March 1, 2018 will be turned over to the Allegan County Treasurer for collection.

Tax bills can be paid by mail or in person at the Treasury Office located in Plainwell City Hall. City Hall is open Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  Specifically, City Hall will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, 2017 and Monday and Tuesday, January 1 and 2, 2018.  A drive-up drop-box is available for use during non-business hours in the parking area in Fannie Pell Park. For a convenience fee not collected by the city, payments can also be made by credit card by visiting the city website.
 
The fact that a property owner does not receive a tax bill does not relieve the property owner of the obligation of paying the taxes and the associated fees. If you own property in the City of Plainwell and have not received a Winter tax bill before December 15, 2017, a duplicate copy can be obtained at the Treasury Office in City Hall or on the website.
